“Flying & Fashion…The Marriage of Two Passions”
Born and raised in Coronado of a fashionable mother and a Navy
pilot father, it’s no surprise that at this point in my life I
have settled into two passions: fashion and flying. As I grew
up and away from Coronado, I spent many years in the fashion
industry – at Sak’s Fifth Avenue and the Fur Salon at the
Broadway. Out of those experiences came the love of
accessorizing with jewelry. In my mid-30’s I took up flying at
the North Island Navy Flying Club, where I met a handsome
pilot and the rest is history. Don and I share four children
and continue our love of flying through ownership of a Beech
T-34 “Mentor”.
Naturally my passions for aviation and fashionable pearl
jewelry were the inspiration for my business, CAVU Pearls.
CAVU stands for “Ceiling And Visibility Unlimited” - for a
pilot that’s a great flying day!
The CAVU Pearls collection is fine cultured pearl jewelry
designed with freshwater, black Tahitian and white South Sea
pearls, hand knotted with silk thread and have 14kg or
sterling silver clasps unless stated otherwise. The extensive
variety in designs range from classic to contemporary,
traditional white to elegant black, and the dyed collection
offers a rainbow of colors. Many are one of a kind and all
are made with special care to ensure endless years of
enjoyment.
